I gave up my career in Fife Council Housing Benefits & Council Tax in 2001 to study for a National Certificate in Animal Care at Elmwood College, Cupar, Fife which covered: Anatomy & Physiology / Animal Behaviour / Animal Health & Nutrition / Animal Reproduction / Diseases / Dog Training & Grooming / Equine Care & Nutrition / First Aid / Genetics / Legislation & Welfare / Management & Maintenance of Animal Boarding Establishments / Pet & Animal Husbandry / Records & Accounts / Sale of Livestock
I knew I wanted to work with animals in some aspect but didn’t have a clue what to do. Vet/Vet Nurse - I faint at the sight of blood ! SSPCA - I’d be up on assault charges within a month ! Kennel Hand/Owner - tried and tested, not for me Guide Dog Puppy Walker - I couldn’t bear the thought of having a dog for a year then handing it over Foster Carer - well if you look at the picture at the top of the page you can see I’m hopeless Rescue Animals - well enough said (see above) Pet Shop - I did a work placement in Kirkcaldy for two weeks and loved every minute
